BETA Potluck this Weekend!
Saturday, August 31 BETA Academy is having an end of summer get together at Rose park in Georgetown. All are invited to attended. This is a kid friendly event. Mats will be available to roll. Looking forward to celebrating with the BETA community!

Weekend OPEN MAT for BETA Students (8/31-9/2)
Regular classes are cancelled
Saturday and Sunday 9am-1pm Open Mat.
Monday 10am-8pm Open Mat (popular training times are 11a/noon, 2p/3p, and 6pm).

These open mats are free to all womxn. If you have been interested in trying Muay Thai or BJJ here’s your chance to do so in a friendly and supportive environment.

New BETA Teens Program
BETA Academy is now offering an After-School Program for teens! Students will be able to train in BJJ + Muay Thai, participate in a strength and training program, and learn how to effectively and safely lift weights. This program is for ages 12-16. For more info give us a call at (202) 538-0422.

Team BETA back in the ring!
Team BETA is back in ring on September 7 for WBC Muay Thai promotion “RISE” in Washington, DC. BETA champs Nahom Demissie and Dominico McIntosh are competing, if you see them around the school wish them luck!

BJJ Promotions
Congratulations Professor Andrew “The Armadillo” on your promotion to BJJ Blackbelt!!!

BETA Academy went 3-0 at the 15th Anniversary Bushido MMA Challenge on August 5th. BETA founder, Nakapan Phungephorn wins his superfight match via armbar. Coach Gannon Lang wins his match in overtime. Travis Outten’s opponent didn’t show so he fought a black belt and won via loop choke.


Congratulations to everyone for earning a stripe at the BJJ Test and a special congratulations to Coach Jhimmie, on your promotion to BJJ Purple Belt and Coach Andre, Mariah, Greg and Jordan, on your promotion to BJJ Blue Belt!!

BETA Academy Founder, Professor Nakapan Phungephorn competed alongside 60 athletes in his division. Prof Nak won 2 matches and lost the third via close refs decision.

On to the next challenge!


BETA Academy x WeWork for Summer on 14th Street: Wellness Edition. BETA Academy was featured at We Work’s Manhattan Laundry location alongside some of 14th Street’s most popular wellness companies. Food, drink, and fun was had by all. Thanks to our events team for representing BETA Academy!


Master Nakapan was in Detroit at the end of July as Guest Muay Thai Professor accompanying Romulo Barral (6 Time BJJ Black Belt World Champion) and Otavio Sousa (3 Time BJJ Black Belt World Champion) for a weekend long seminar at Gracie Barra-Burton in Detroit, MI.
