What is Muay Thai?

Muay Thai is often referred to as “The Art of the Eight Limbed Warrior” because its practitioners learn to wield their hands, elbows, knees and shins as weapons to launch devastating attacks against opponents and would be aggressors. With deep roots in the medieval battlefields of Siam, Muay Thai has evolved to become a combat effective martial art that can be practiced for self-defense and to improve overall physical and mental health.

Commonly known as Thai Boxing in the west, Muay Thai has been preserved for the people by the Kings of Thailand.  Its rituals and traditions together with its fighting secrets have been passed on from teacher to student for centuries and today it has become the national sport of Thailand.

Now everyone can learn Muay Thai and feel the positive effects on the mind and body.  Practitioners of Muay Thai, called “Nak Muay”, employ a multitude of training methods to sharpen their skills such as hitting bags, shadow boxing, smashing mitts, and controlled technical sparring.  It’s fitness with a function and consistent practice overtime leads to great health benefits.

BETA Muay Thai Program

We proudly offer world-class instruction in the art of Muay Thai under the guidance of Former World Champion and World Thai Boxing Association (WTBA) Certified Head Instructor, Khun Kru Nakapan Phungephorn.

Our program is flexibly designed so that everyone can enjoy the positive benefits of Muay Thai practice, regardless of age, skill level, gender or size. In a fun and safe environment, students learn practical combat skills and take part in challenging training sessions that push them to grow beyond their perceived limits.

All Experience Levels are Welcome! We are OPEN 7 days a week and have 80+ classes per week to suit the needs of all skill levels and abilities from the absolute beginner with no experience trying a first class and the experienced fighter preparing for the next competition.

We teach systems – not moves! BETA Instructors teach from our battle tested proprietary Muay Thai Curriculum carefully designed so that students can quickly gain skill and proficiency with fundamental through advanced technique with the aim of building beyond the foundation.

Students are able to see improvements and track personal progress by following our Muay Thai belt progression system. Cloth armbands, or Pra-jiad in Thai, are used at BETA to symbolize  personal skill level and help to direct focus toward the next challenge.
